This June 6th, in the Belate area (Baztan), we celebrated an environmental volunteering day on the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5th) organized by Orekan – Environmental Management of Navarra.

What did we do?

Removal of branches and debris from a Lawson cypress plantation accumulated on waterlogged soils with sphagnum moss, a key habitat for biodiversity and carbon storage.

Selective clearing of gorse (Ulex gallii) to promote the development of the wet heath of Erica tetralix, a priority habitat target of LIFE GLOBAL.

Thanks to the efforts of all the volunteers, we have contributed to improving the condition of these fragile and valuable habitats.
