Awareness-raising event in Galicia for future tour guides

Last week, at LIFE Global, we welcomed the future generation of tour guides from IES Rosalía de Castro in Santiago de Compostela.

The Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve guided them along an interpretive route through one of the territory’s most iconic areas—the A Costa de Dexo Serantes—highlighting the importance of the Natura 2000 Network for the conservation and enhancement of the region, as well as the need to understand the specific locations and features targeted for tourism development, particularly the challenges facing them.

The overall objective of LIFE GLOBAL is the implementation of a transnational strategy between Spain and Portugal for the restoration of high conservation value Natura 2000 areas in the north of the Iberian Peninsula, as the main measure of adaptation to current global changes, improving the conservation status and resilience of priority habitats and species. Es necesario tener en cuenta el incremento del “eco”turismo que estan recibiendo estos espacios, así como formar a los guias y futuros gestores turisticos, para sensibilizarlos sobre los posibles problemas asociados y las necesidad de regulación del uso público.
